Visual Culture / 03: Folk Songs From The Mekong
Visual Culture is an exhibition-in-print project produced by the National Heritage Board. It is an alternative avenue of inquiry that combines aspects of art history, anthropology, critical theory, philosophy, and sociology. One of the central aims of this exhibition/publication is to merge different disciplines and combine the past with the contemporary. This is the first in a series of publications devoted to these diverse research interests, especially around visual and material culture.
In this issue, “Folk Songs from the Mekong”, Visual Culture focuses on three contemporary artists: Jeremy Hiah of Singapore, Aung Ko of Myanmar, and the Le Brothers of Vietnam.
