The title of this book, as many readers will recognise, is borrowed from Foucault. In a stylishly epigrammatic moment he contrasted 'the economics of untruth' with 'the politics of truth': the economics of untruth being Marxism's account of ideology, used to show the relation between what goes on in people's heads and their place in the conditions of production.
